Puffins and pink ducks Galore...

I mentioned the puffins in an earlier post, so today I will present some other puffin pics that I took last year.
Yesterday was a sunny day in England, and we all know that it is drop and run when you see the sun. Ironing, cleaning, it can all be done when it rains.
Plenty of opportunities for that in good old jolly wet England.

We had a coffee with the school girls, this time not at Betty’s, but along the river side in Knaresborough. Marigold is the name of the place.

As i said to Sue: England is all you need when the weather is nice.
Marigold is situated at the border of the river Nidd, where the boats are. Lots of tourists now, and the boating business is floating along.

Families have a great day outdoors, the boats are popular, it seems like a very british thing to do. Take the whole family on the river, and make the boats wiggle dangerously since we always have some show offs who want to perform tricks.

No trick yesterday for a man who lost an oar, bending over to grab it back, and ending up in the river. A speedy salvage operation was in order, and the lady baking the pancakes in normal circumstances jumped in a boat to go and help him. It all ended well, he only had a wet suit. If you wonder where he is, he is the tiny head you see above boat number two in the left upper corner.

His drowning boat was Emma, and Emma needed sun dry time as she filled up with water lying on her side...
That was our bit of exitement for an otherwise calm thursday.

Some doogies looked longing for the water, others jumped in and did swim to their hearts desire.
Splishing and splashing around, this one had fun! We shared in the fun when he came back to the bank and shook the water out of its pelt.
Yuk...

We had a lovely view towards Knaresborough bridge, and the train passed a couple of times. An idyllic moment in an idyllic spot.

The ducks are trained and know they get fed, so plenty to see close to the river Nidd.

The food served was delicious, if you ever come to Knaresborough, don’t forget lunch at Marigold, at the boating house next to the river.
I had real belgian pancakes, and they were SOOOO good!
A spot to come back to.

It is also the spot where I had my first date with Aaron. On a dark and cold saturday night in january of 2001 he brought me to the riverside to Mario’s. the italian restaurant. Sadly enough no longer there.
The place is filled with good memories for me. Life can be as simple and good as a pink duck...

Yep, I hear you mutter about the puffins, where are the puffins that she is talking about in the title?
Coming up, one puffin...

And two more puffins. I will tell the tale about the other 387.399.654 puffs tomorrow... I shot those last year, in the beginning of july, when Madeline and myself went up to Inner Farne. Yep, the island where the turns can be in attacking mode!

Meet me in Sint Louis, I mean tomorrow on this blogspot!

The pancakes sounded so yummy! The story of the boating reminded me of times when my father would row us in a boat on a lake that we spent some time at when we were very young. Thanks, Catherine, splendid to relive those memories - though not quite with the stone of Marigold! Loved your picture of the yellow lab deprived of water and his frolicing friend. Puffins are lovely!

Christine

More teal water! Cute little guys, those puffins! Odd ducks, too (pink? :)) Your pics make me want to pack my bags and go....go....go!
